Media Litigation Solicitors
When information or allegations have been published, the team advises on the most effective strategies. We seek to prevent further damage to reputations, stop further intrusions and hold those responsible to account.
This can include engaging with publishers, from established media groups to newer social media platforms and internet service providers, to seek removal of articles, information and allegations.
The team has been involved in cases that have shaped this area of law, in particular acting in landmark defamation claims and developing the scope of privacy protection and the rights of those subject to press misconduct.
We have been involved in leading cases in the High Court, including all appellate courts and the European Court of Human Rights, and participated in Judicial Reviews and Public Inquiries concerning media law. We are used to running cases that are constantly under the glare of publicity but we also seek to ensure publicity does not defeat the purpose of the claim and seek reporting restrictions where applicable. As well as High Court litigation in defamation, privacy, data protection, cyber, phone-hacking and breach of confidence claims, we are also experienced in tracking down anonymous posters on social media and making complaints to regulators, such as IPSO and OFCOM.
