When asked by Tatler whether the new Online Safety Act will be effective, Mark remarked “Ofcom is able to take enforcement action against platforms who fail to tackle criminal content, such as harassment, hate offences and child sexual exploitation. However, there is real potential for content which is “lawful but awful” to cause harm. It is not of itself illegal, but can still cause significant harm to children and young people.”
