Much of the work that we do has an international element. We act for international clients who have family law difficulties where there is a connection to England and Wales. We also act for families who are located in the UK but have international links.

We routinely advise in respect of divorce, finances and children matters that span multiple jurisdictions. We are well connected having worked with a large number of third party lawyers and advisers all over the world, and are used to advising on the intricacies of jurisdictional disputes, claims under Part III and the like. We acted in the leading Part III case of Potanina v Potanin before the Supreme Court where the test for permission to bring a Part III claim was clarified.
Payne Hicks Beach is a full service law firm and we are able to call upon our colleagues in other departments to assist in international matters – for example our trusts team are often engaged to advise on complex overseas trusts. We also have a specialist immigration team and can work with them to advise on any immigration issues that may arise during proceedings.
